The Orchestra in the City of Dubrovnik has been in operation continuously since 1924, initially as a semi-professional organization, and subsequently as a fully professional orchestra. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra continues the long and significant musical tradition that had already been developed in the early years of the Republic of Dubrovnik (1358-1808).

Franjo Tudjman is the first president of the independent and democratic Croatian state and the supreme commander of its armed forces. Visnjic was the youngest actor to be chosen for the title role in Shakespeare's Hamlet at the Dubrovnik Summer Theatre Festival in Croatia. Originally cast as Laertes, and understudy to Hamlet, he took over the role when the star dropped out of the production shortly before the first performance.

After Franjo Tuđman died in December 1999, he was elected in two rounds the President of the Republic of Croatia in February 2000. He was re-elected in January 2005 for a second term.
